Fog hits Robin Hood Airport official opening - almost 2 years after first flight
29.03.07
The Duke of York was due to fly into Doncaster for the official opening of Robin Hood Airport, one month before the airport celebrates two years of commercial operation. However, the official opening had to be cancelled when Prince Andrew could not fly in because of thick fog.
Flights were disrupted early yesterday morning until the weather lifted. The official opening ceremony will go ahead when a new date has been fixed, almost certainly after the airport celebrates the second anniversary of its first commercial flights.
