New bus service for Robin Hood airport
27.05.07
Bus services linking North Nottinghamshire to Robin Hood Airport were officially launched on Friday by Bassetlaw MP John Mann and Nottinghamshire county councillor Stella Smedley. Nottinghamshire County Council has awarded Stagecoach East Midlands the £2m contract to run modified and expanded services that will link to the airport.
The new routes are due to start from May 29 and are in response to independent research that identified a need for residents living in the area to access job opportunities at the airport, as well as offering better public transport links for passengers.
The flagship service will be an hourly direct service from Worksop via Carlton, Langold, Harworth and Bircotes running up to 21 hours a day during the week. Buses from Retford will generally run every hour Monday to Saturday via Blyth, Harworth and Bircotes, providing a half hourly service for these areas. Both routes will also have a Sunday service.
