15.04.11
Work on the multi-million pound Robin Hood Airport link road could start as soon as next summer, after
Doncaster was awarded an £18 million share of the Regional Growth Fund announced this week. The news has been welcomed by Robin Hood Airport, which expects a major boost in air traffic from the link.
The project, which includes the continued development of the airport, the Strategic Rail Freight Interchange proposal next to Junction 3 of the M18 and the reclamation of Rossington Colliery, is expected to provide a major boost to economic growth across the region and act as a catalyst for attracting investment and creating long term job opportunities.
Craig Richmond, airport owner Peel Airports chief executive, said: ‘This is tremendous news and will help to bring this vital link between the motorway network and the airport one step nearer, benefiting the future potential for growth in both passenger and freight services at Robin Hood Airport.’
