11.07.07
Wizz Air has launched flights on its new route between Robin Hood Airport and Gdansk, in Poland this week. The new Gdansk route, joins the existing flight to Katowice, and comes soon after Wizz Air announced details of further expansion at Robin Hood Airport, with new flights to Poznan and Wroclaw starting in February 2008.
Passengers on the inaugural flight to Gdansk were treated to complimentary refreshments laid on ahead of the departure of the 11:50, and a bottle of champagne was presented to Peter Stobiecki the first passenger to check-in for the flight.
David Ryall, the airport's managing director, said: 'I am pleased to see so many passengers on the first ever flight to Gdansk. Robin Hood Airport is the only airport in Yorkshire, Lincolnshire or Nottinghamshire to serve Gdansk and Katowice / Cracow, and the flight full of passengers today suggests that this is going to be another success for Wizz Air.'
