Robin Hood Airport passengers up 12 percent

Passengers at Robin Hood Airport rose by 12.6% in March 2008 compared with a year earlier. The airport, which will celebrate three years of operation this month, has now handled 2.85 million passengers since opening in April 2005.
More than 78,955 passengers travelled through Robin Hood Airport during March 2008, a 12.6% increase on the same month last year. Peel Airport’s Group Airports Director, Hugh Lang, said: ‘A year on year passenger increase of over twelve percent is something to be very proud of. This week saw the start of Warsaw, another new scheduled service providing the airport region with yet more year round choice’
Robin Hood Airport serves almost 50 destinations across the globe, all with direct non-stop flights. The top five routes in March 2008 were:
1. Alicante (Thomsonfly and Ryanair)
2. Dublin (Ryanair)
3. Katowice / Cracow (Wizz Air)
4. Malaga (Thomsonfly)
5. Tenerife (Thomsonfly)
