Job cuts at Robin Hood Airport
03.11.08
Robin Hood Airport bosses are looking at making job cuts. Currently nine posts are under threat following a review of the Finningley operation. The jobs at risk are mainly in airfield operational roles.
The airport say the proposals will result in a number of operational efficiencies, enhancing safety, security and compliance in line with regulatory guidance, as well as improving training and staff development across operational departments. They will also leave the airport better prepared to face the challenges of the current economic crisis.
Airport director Mike Morton says the proposals will also leave the hub better placed to maintain and grow its business. He said: ‘These are currently some of the most difficult trading conditions the aviation industry has experienced in decades.'
‘We have endeavoured to avoid any potential redundancies, however it will unfortunately be necessary to place a small number of staff at risk of redundancy in order to ensure that each airport is best placed moving forward.’
Bosses will now enter into a period of consultation with employees and union leaders aimed at minimising the job losses.
