Prestwick Airport protestors face charges
09.08.06
Anti-war protesters have appeared in court accused of illegally entering Prestwick Airport. Some of the 17 people who appeared at Ayr Sheriff Court were also accused of illegally boarding and damaging a US military aircraft. They pleaded not guilty to a number of charges, including breaching the Aviation Security Act.
Those appearing were aged between 21 and 78 and were from both Scotland and England. Two of the seventeen were held in custody while the rest were released on bail under conditions. Those freed on bail are not allowed to enter or attempt to enter the terminal building at Prestwick or go within a 500m radius of the perimeter fence. They will stand trial later.
