Seguro dumps airline over Prestwick flight delays
08.08.07
Holiday company Seguro has scrapped its contract with an airline after twice stranding hundreds holidaymakers at Prestwick Airport and across Europe for days. The holiday company operated flights using a single plane leased from Sky Wings, however, as previously reported, the jet suffered major technical problems twice in a fortnight.
In a statement, Seguro managing director Richard Burke said yesterday: 'We are not prepared to accept these prolonged delays to our passengers' holidays. We have done everything in our power to minimise the disruption but we will not accept the disruption to our schedules that we have seen over the past two weeks.'
It is not clear where the airline has found a new plane during the peak holiday season, however, with only one plane operating its flights, unless it has put a robust back up plane agreement in place, it will always suffer when its single plane develops technical problems.
