Prestwick Airport passengers down 22%

Prestwick Airport suffered another sharp fall in the number of passengers in January. 103,188 passengers used the Ayrshire airport during the month, down 22% on January 2009. In the 10 months to the end of January 1,488,638 passengers flew in or out of Prestwick, down 26% on the same period in the previous year.
Operations in the month were affected by disruption to flights resulting from bad weather, although Prestwick benefited from this in some cases, with flights from other airports diverting to the hub. Local rival Glasgow reported passengers down 12.2% in January.
