Spot-checks on taxis at Nottingham East Midlands Airport

Ten taxis have been taken off the road in a crackdown at Nottingham East Midlands Airport. A total of 75 hackney carriages and private hire cabs were spot-checked in a venture between police, the DVLA and the Department for Work and Pensions.
Three drivers were caught working while claiming benefits and four of the cabbies checked were driving without the proper licences. In addition three of the vehicles were found to be unsafe and taken off the road.
