Strong views at Nottingham East Midlands airport exhibition

Strong views were aired as plans to expand Nottingham East Midlands airport were unveiled to local residents yesterday. Under the draft 'master plan' the airport would double its number of night flights by 2016. Jobs and destinations are also set to increase.
The airport hosted a public exhibition of a planned 10-year development at Melton Council offices. The exhibition appeared as part of a consultation exercise that will end next month. Plans could then be amended according to people's comments to form a final draft.
The plans came under fire from campaign groups, who claimed not enough is done to limit night flight noise levels over rural areas.
