Nottingham East Midlands campaigners to march on Lords
01.03.06
Campaigners against night-noise pollution at Nottingham East Midlands airport are to hold what they say will be a major House of Lords rally.
Demand (Demand East Midlands Airport is Now Designated), an East Midlands-based pressure group, who want the number of night-flights to be capped by the Government, will demonstrate on March 8. The midday protest will be timed to coincide with the Lords debating the Civil Aviation Bill, which campaigners oppose.
The Bill, which has already passed its House of Commons stages, gives airports stronger powers to set noise limits and fine airlines as well as setting charges according to local pollution levels. But the campaigners say it would be a disaster.
To attend the demonstration, telephone: 0116 259 9929.
