Norwich airport prepares for growth
28.09.05
The planned expansion of Norwich airport, which received local authority permission last week, has led to two senior appointments at the airport. Norwich also announced record August passenger numbers.
The management changes see Commercial and Property Director Tim Connor promoted to Deputy Managing Director, and Louise Wilkinson joining the management team as head of marketing services.
Tim Connor said: 'The arrival of low cost airlines Flybe and Air Wales has seen further growth in the routes we offer and we have ambitions to extend our destination base in line with the increasing demands of local residents and businesses.'
Wilkinson added: 'The challenge ahead is to manage the growth and ensure that we offer the flights and destinations people want. We are about to undertake a major research process and this will feed into the process.'
The airport also announced August passenger numbers hit a record 63,000, up 32% on the same month last year. Norwich International is projected to handle 600,000 in 2005-06. There are plans to expand the terminal to offer increased capacity, with the airport hoping to cater for 2 million passengers within 5 years.
