Second cocaine haul at Norwich Airport
20.07.06
A drug smuggler was arrested after being caught with eight kilogrammes of cocaine in his luggage, with a street value of about half a million pounds, at Norwich Airport. It is the second major drugs seizure at the airport in the last 10 days - last week two men were arrested after about 20kg of cocaine with an estimated street value of more than £1m was found in their luggage by customs officers at the airport.
The latest swoop happened on Sunday evening when an Austrian national who arrived from Amsterdam's Schiphol airport was arrested by customs officers, who charged him with smuggling cocaine into the UK. Johann Jacum, 50, from Gleisdorf, Austria, appeared at Norwich Magistrates' Court yesterday where he pleaded guilty and was remanded in custody to return in six weeks' time for sentencing.
