Norwich Airport bosses hope to regain Spanish routes

Norwich Airport managers are holding talks with a range of airlines to try to restore routes cut by Flybe earlier this summer, according to local press report. The Norwich Evening News and others say public outcry over the cancellations has lead to airport bosses talking to other airlines to try to restore routes to Alicante and Malaga, which will not operate during the winter.
Louise Wilkinson, airport spokeswoman, said: 'We are looking at every possibility because we know people want the product back at Norwich. The flights to Alicante and Malaga are a priority because people are asking for them back and we want to give our passengers choice.'
However, she conceded that finding an airline with spare aircraft to fly the routes over the winter would be a challenge, given that airline operators 'are normally committed to a route and a timetable for at least a year.' Norwich passengers could expect to wait for up to a year for the routes to be reinstated, she added.
