Flybe cut more Norwich flights

Budget airline Flybe has refused to commit to a future at Norwich Airport after announcing a number of key routes are to be axed or reduced, the Evening News reports. Bosses at the airline, which runs flights from the city to domestic, European and international destinations, refuse to dispel rumours suggesting they are to pull out of the airport completely after admitting direct flights to Paris and Glasgow would be scrapped by early May and services to Guernsey cut to once a week.
Fears were raised that the Exeter-based airline, which arrived in the city in January 2005 amid much fanfare, could abandon Norwich International after it emerged its contract with the airport had already expired. Without any contract with the airport it was feared the airline could drop flights without any notice - and Flybe has confirmed those fears after axing further routes.
Flybe said in a statement: ‘We can confirm that, in light of recent events at Norwich Airport, it has withdrawn its service to Glasgow and, effective May 3, reduced frequency to Guernsey to once a week on Saturdays only. In addition, effective April 28, we have also re-routed the Norwich - Paris Charles de Gaulle service via Jersey.’
The newspaper also reports 'industry sources' suggesting Spanish airline LTE is poised to sign a deal with Norwich Airport to fly new routes from the city.
