Norwich Airport bosses questions expansion projections

Norwich Airport could treble in size within the next 25 years, bringing with it 1400 jobs and investment that would help put Norwich 'on the map', according to the East of England Development Agency (EEDA), who commissioned a study into the impact of potential expansion at Norwich International Airport.
However, EEDA's findings have been rubbished by airport bosses who say it is 'unlikely' the infrastructure was in place to increase the airport to such an extent, the Eastern Daily Press newspaper reports.
The airport currently handles around 750,000 passengers a year, but EEDA, which is a Government-funded organisation charged with overseeing the region's development, says this could rise to nearly 3 million by 2030.
Louise Wilkinson, head of marketing at Norwich Airport, told the newspaper: 'The current terminal facility is able to cope with 2m passengers a year and we currently have no plans to expand beyond that.'
