Smoking vent causes Newcastle Airport evacuation

Part of Newcastle Airport was evacuated on Saturday after a smoking vent set off a fire alarm, the BBC reports The small fire, which started in ducting at the airport's Burger King outlet, was quickly extinguished by on-site fire crews.
The alarms were triggered at about 16:15, by a ‘localised’ fire. About 350 travellers in the departure lounge were evacuated, but the rest of the facility was unaffected. The incident was stood down just after 17:00 and passengers were escorted back into the departure lounge shortly afterwards. A small number of outbound flights suffered minor delays.
