Man in court over Newcastle Airport drugs find

A man has appeared in court after a substantial quantity of illegal drugs were seized at Newcastle Airport. Customs officials announced that 4 kg of cocaine, with a street value of £300,000, was discovered on Thursday.
Lawrence Izundu, of Nigeria, charged with attempting to smuggle class A drugs into the UK, was remanded in custody at Newcastle magistrates. He will next appear before the court on Monday. The 34-year-old had travelled from Cameroon when he was arrested.
