Newcastle Airport metro back in use

Metro services to Newcastle Airport were back to normal yesterday. The airport Metro station had been closed since it was flooded on September 6. A bus shuttle service had operated between Callerton Parkway and Kingston Park while repair work was carried out.
A normal timetable has now resumed, and passengers no longer have to change from the train to a bus at Kingston Park. A Metro spokesman said: ‘We have been working round the clock to repair our damaged track and signaling equipment, which was overwhelmed by the flood water.’
