Newcastle Airport closed by snow

Snow caused cancellations and delays at Newcastle Airport today. After unexpected blizzards swept the region, the airport was temporarily closed this afternoon while the runways were cleared.
Passengers faced delays to a number of flights, and four flights were either been cancelled or diverted. The KLM flight to Amsterdam, due to leave at 13:40, was cancelled, and the BA 15:05 flight to Heathrow has also been cancelled. The 12:30 flight from the Isle of Man was diverted to Humberside, and the 13:00 flight from Amsterdam was diverted to Edinburgh.
