Newcastle Airport cocaine smuggler facing prison

A teenage drugs mule is facing jail over a failed bid to smuggle £500,000 of drugs into the UK via Newcastle Airport.
Nigerian Victor Eday Odeh had 2½ kilograms of 100% pure cocaine on him when he was stopped while going through customs at the airport on May 2. He had zigzagged his way from the African state of Togo, via Paris, before arriving at Newcastle Airport, and was also found to be carrying £1,400 in cash, which was seized.
Odeh pleaded guilty to smuggling the class A substance at Newcastle Crown Court on Friday. He was remanded in custody and the case was adjourned until next month for reports to be prepared but the Nigerian was told that he can expect a lengthy spell behind bars.
