Former Newcastle Airport boss takes over at Leeds Bradford

Newcastle Airport's former chief executive has been appointed as head of Leeds Bradford Airport, which competes with Newcastle for tourist traffic, despite continuing legal proceedings against him.
As previously reported, John Parkin was suspended from his position as chief executive of Newcastle Airport in March, amid an investigation into 'certain personal contractual issues'. The 52-year-old later resigned, but in May, Newcastle Airport launched legal action against him in the High Court.
The legal move came as bosses at Newcastle Airport claimed that Mr. Parkin had a 'connection' with European private equity firm firm Bridgepoint Capital, who had bought Leeds Bradford International Airport just prior to Mr. Parkin's suspension. Newspaper reports at the time suggested that he was set to be 'parachuted in as chief executive' of the Yorkshire airport, however, this was strenuously denied by Bridgepoint at the time.
Yesterday Bridgepoint announced Mr. Parkin had been appointed as the new chief executive of Leeds Bradford. He will take over the position from September 10, replacing Ed Anderson who announced he would be standing down in May.
A spokesman for Newcastle Airport refused to comment on the appointment, but said legal proceedings against Mr. Parkin were still active. A spokesman for Leeds Bradford Airport and Bridgepoint insisted they had no concerns over Mr. Parkin's appointment.
