Taxi driver banned after 96mph Newcastle Airport fare

A taxi driver who drove at 96mph when taking a fare to Newcastle Airport could have caused a tragedy, a council licensing chief said.
Michael James Thompson, 33, of South Denton, was given six penalty points and a 12 week suspended jail sentence. He was also banned from operating a taxi.
