A developer has announced plans to build three hotels, houses and offices on a former Manchester Airport car park in Wythenshawe. A spokesman said that it would provide a massive jobs boost, the Manchester Evening News reports.
Property company Burford have previously been granted permission to build offices on a car park off the M56 slip road next to Manchester Airport. They have announced that they also want to put three hotels and about 170 homes on the site, in Thorley Lane, Woodhouse Park.
The company says that the project will create about 800 jobs and much-needed private homes for local people and have invited Wythenshawe residents to see a range of proposals - including the housing, hotels and offices scheme - at an exhibition this weekend.
Burford's preferred scheme is for a `sustainable mix' of homes, offices and hotels, as well as a car dealership. Duncan Phillips, a director at the firm, told the newspaper: 'Our research and discussions so far have revealed demand for new homes in Wythenshawe and a desire for commercial developments that offer the prospect of jobs for local people.'
The exhibition will be at the Woodhouse Park Lifestyle Centre, Portway, between 15:00 and 20:00 on Friday and between 11:00 and 16:00 on Saturday.
