Manchester Airports Group consider Belfast City bid
29.05.08
Manchester Airports Group (MAG) bosses are considering a move for Belfast City Airport after its Spanish owner put it on the open market yesterday, the Manchester Evening News reports. It says that the UK's second biggest airports operator has requested further details about Belfast City, which has a price tag of more than £100m.
A source at MAG confirmed the company's interest in acquiring Belfast City, telling the newspaper: 'We will certainly be having a close look at it but a formal offer is some way off. The group is interested in acquiring assets that add value for shareholders, and has an excellent track record of running airports.'
At the same time, MAG have been holding informal talks with private equity groups about the possibility of a joint bid for Gatwick, and have appointed advisers to find a buyer for Humberside Airport.
