Free fear of flying help at Manchester Airport
26.10.11
Passengers with a fear of flying have had their nerves calmed by a psychologist at Manchester Airport, the MEN reports. The airport hired Gill Harvey-Bush - who was trained by TV hypnotist Paul McKenna - to offer passengers free therapy sessions in Terminal One departures lounge. It was the first time that the airport had turned to a psychologist to help nervous holidaymakers – and the one-day trial went so well that they are considering running more mini-courses.
The airport set up a clinic – complete with a leather chair - in the VIP Escape Lounge for 15-minute consultations. Gill, who helped cure Hollywood star Whoopi Goldberg of her flying fear, taught the passengers techniques about how they can overcome their worries about turbulence, claustrophobia and take-offs, including simple breathing patterns and how to have positive thoughts.
