60 drunk soldiers kicked off Manchester flight

Sixty soldiers were kicked off an easyJet flight to Manchester Airport after getting drunk before take-off. The men took alcohol on board and when a stewardess complained, one growled: ‘You're not going to stop us drinking our own booze - we're trained to kill.’ The pilot then evacuated the flight by telling the passengers that there was a fault - and let everyone back on apart from the troops, who were heading home on leave.
The easyJet flight from Paphos, Cyprus, was more than three hours late when it landed in Manchester early yesterday with around 140 passengers. When the aircraft was cleared of passengers and luggage, staff asked civilian passengers to point out their bags on the tarmac so they could be put back on board.
An investigation has been launched into the incident involving men from the 2nd Battalion Duke of Lancaster's Regiment. An MoD spokesman said airport authorities had not called for charges to be brought. But he insisted: ‘We will not tolerate this type of behaviour.’
