A man who tried to smuggle cocaine via Manchester Airport hidden in tins of cheese has been jailed. Walter Shepherd, 49, from Cheetham Hill, who was caught trying to smuggle £58,000 worth of the drug in to the UK, was jailed for four years.
Customs officers found the cocaine in his suitcase after he arrived on a flight from Jamaica. The drugs were concealed in tins of 'Tastee' brand cheese and were detected as he passed through the airport last October. He pleaded guilty at Manchester crown court and was jailed for four years and may now face confiscation proceedings.
