Chemical incident shuts Manchester Airport
24.01.10
Police evacuated part of Manchester Airport yesterday and declared a ‘chemical incident’ after a man tried to carry non-identified white powder onto a plane. The substance was later found to be harmless, and the check-in area was reopened.
A police spokesman said: ‘Tests have been carried out on the substance that have concluded it could not have been used for any explosive purposes. There was absolutely no risk to anyone at the airport.'
