Guernsey minister to question Flybe on Manchester flights
22.09.08
Guernsey Commerce and Employment Minister Carla McNulty Bauer is to question Flybe on its plans for its Manchester Airport route after the airline cut direct services for the winter. She is waiting to hear from the airline in the wake of complaints from Aurigny that Flybe is 'cherry-picking which routes it runs'.
Deputy McNulty Bauer said: ‘We are very keen to have robust all-year-round services to the island. That is what we want to see. We are waiting to hear from Flybe with regard to its intentions for the Manchester route. I am reluctant to say anything further until I have heard what Flybe has to say.’
Flybe has stopped direct services between the island and Manchester during the winter months for the past few years. Aurigny, which operates a daily direct service all year round, said it was about time the airline stopped dropping routes as and when it wanted.
