Manchester Airport noise map released
21.12.07
A map of major airports in England in line with the EU's Environmental Noise Directive - including Manchester Airport - has been drawn up by the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (defra).
The maps, which provide details of sound levels during the day and night, will be used to create action plans to address and reduce noise. In 2005, the Department for Transport said Manchester Airport should consider compensation proposals in areas where traffic noise could not be reduced.
For more information or to view the maps, which include noise levels mapped over a street map, visit: http://www.defra.gov.uk/environment/noise/ambient.htm.
