Etihad Airways carried an extra 50,000 passengers through Manchester Airport in 2011 compared to 2010, the MEN reports. The airline carried 222,465 passengers between Manchester Airport and Abu Dhabi during 2011, 29 percent up on 2010.
The airline increased frequency on the route from once to twice daily flight in August. It began operating from Manchester in 2003, and flies to 82 locations worldwide. Manchester is its eighth busiest location worldwide, and the airline plans to open a call centre in Manchester in 2012, creating 160 jobs.
