American Airlines to restart Manchester – New York route
17.12.10
American Airlines will start year round flights between Manchester and New York JFK from next April. The route was announced as a summer service from May as in previous years, but the airline has now brought the restart forward to April 6 and made the service year round because of demand.
Departures in both directions have also been re-timed by over an hour so that they will now depart Manchester earlier and leave New York later. The airline will run its two non-stop flights a day in Boeing 757-200s with 182 seats.
Andrew Harrison, Manchester Airport's managing director, said: ‘American Airlines is our longest serving American carrier, having operated continuously for 25 years. I’m delighted that the New York JFK service was so successful that it’s not only starting earlier than planned but will be operating a year round schedule from 2011.’
