Flybe plane emergency at Manchester Airport
17.12.09
A Flybe plane had to make an emergency landing at Manchester Airport yesterday after a warning light alerted the captain to smoke in the cockpit. The Bombardier Q400 Flybe aircraft, flight BE 278, was en route from Gatwick Airport to the Isle of Man when it was diverted.
The 45 passengers were forced to leave the plane via the emergency chutes after the landing. An airport spokesman said no-one was injured. They stayed overnight at a Manchester Airport hotel.
The likely cause of the incident seems to have been a minor technical fault, a Flybe spokeswoman said.
