Passengers up 3.78% at Manchester Airport

Passenger numbers at Manchester Airport have grown for the eighth consecutive month, driven by a surge in scheduled international traffic. The airport handled 1.19m travellers in November, up 3.78 percent on the same month last year.
Scheduled international services saw passenger growth of 8.81 percent, but the number of people travelling on domestic flights fell 1.79 percent, and those carried on charter flights fell by 7.99 percent. The he amount of freight handled was down 5.78 percent at 9,723 tonnes.
Manchester Airport managing director Andrew Harrison said: ‘Falling between the summer and winter ski seasons, November is traditionally one of our quietest months. Whilst we have anticipated a challenging winter flying season, passenger numbers are up by around 43,000 on November of last year, which represents a year-on-year growth of 3.8 percent.'
