Manchester Airport passengers up 1.94%
11.12.10
Passenger numbers grew for the second month in a row in November at Manchester Airport amid strong demand for winter sun getaway trips and European city breaks. The airport also benefited from strong performances on long-haul routes, as a total of 1.146m passengers passed through the airport in November, up 1.94 percent from 1.124m in the same month last year. This followed October's growth of 1.81 percent to 1.632m.
Scheduled international services carried 732,178 passengers, an increase of 6.63 percent. All other categories – domestic, charter and private – saw a fall in November. The number of aircraft movements increased by 1.7 percent to 11,914.
Andrew Harrison, managing director of Manchester Airport, said: ‘I'm pleased to see that the upturn is continuing into November after a strong October. We've seen good performance on some of our European routes to cities such as Amsterdam, as well as to destinations including Palma, Majorca, as passengers seek some sun. Our long-haul routes also continue to perform strongly.’
