Virgin to create 450 new jobs
11.03.11
Virgin Atlantic has announced that it will create 450 jobs with plans to expand its fleet and departures this year. This spring launch of a new route between Manchester Airport and Las Vegas, the increase in departures to the Caribbean and Ghana and a new fleet of Airbus A330 aircraft will create 350 cabin crew roles and 50 pilot vacancies, with the remaining 50 at airports and the firm's head office.
Corneel Koster, director of operations for Virgin Atlantic, said: ‘We have enjoyed a good year of recovery and can now look forward to expanding our network and welcoming a new fleet of aircraft. With the increases in flight rotations from our London airports and the new Las Vegas flight from Manchester, we will be creating jobs in both of these areas.’
The launch of the new Manchester to Las Vegas route will create 100 crew jobs in the Manchester area. New cabin crew jobs will also be creased by the additional weekly flights from London to Ghana, Tobago, Grenada and Havana, with the new head office roles created to support.
