Power cut hits Manchester Airport flights
07.08.07
Almost 50 flights have been cancelled at Manchester Airport this morning after a power cut caused problems in its three terminals. The airport was also hit by air traffic control problems during the power cut.
A flood in an electrical plant room in an office building caused the power cut at about 05:30, although emergency power ensured that security was not compromised, an airport spokesman said. Power was restored at 08:00.
Forty eight domestic and European flights were cancelled and a number have been delayed. Passengers are advised to travel as normal to catch their flights, but to expect delays of up to an hour.
