Award for Manchester Airport loos
06.12.09
Passengers wanting first class service at Manchester Airport should head to the public lavatories - which have been rated five-star by a ‘loo watchdog’. They scooped the best airport toilets award at the annual Loo of the Year Ceremony after secret visits by toilet-checking judges.
An army of 300 attendants regularly tackle the 1,015 U-bends, 464 urinals and 1,021 sinks in the airport's toilets to keep them some of the cleanest in the UK. Its 20 million annual passengers go through 43,930,000 metres (27,297 miles) of toilet roll. If ‘unrolled’ this would stretch from Manchester to Singapore four times.
