Suspended sentence for air rage drunk

A drunken airplane passenger on a flight from Manchester Airport struck ‘fear’ into his fellow passengers when he embarked a vodka drinking spree before take-off.
Antony Kelly, 38, of The Cresent, Garforth, was drinking vodka from a plastic bottle on a flight due to leave from the airport to the Dominican Republic on September 2 last year. He asked for some cola from the cabin crew but he was refused and became abusive.
Mr Kelly, who was on an all inclusive holiday, had the plastic bottle taken off him and repeatedly said ‘f*** off, give me my vodka back’. At Minshull Street Crown Court, Manchester, he pleaded guilty to being drunk on a airplane and was given an eight-week prison sentence, suspended for two years.
Judge Bernard Lever told him: ‘You were on an aircraft and you were very drunk and acting inappropriately. People get very anxious when they fly and when there is a roaring drunk this causes greater concern. It seems to me that you have a problem with alcohol.’
