Manchester Airport runway closed
05.02.08
Manchester Airport has closed one of its two runways to allow maintenance work to be carried out. As previously reported, the airport said the work on runway two had been scheduled for a quiet period to minimise disruption. It hopes there will be no flight delays or cancellations as a result.
The airport's managing director, Andrew Cornish, said: 'We have chosen to do this during February - traditionally a quieter time before the summer period. We hope to be able to manage all the aircraft on runway one and don't expect this work to cause any significant delays.'
However, the closure from February 5 - 29 will fall during the school half-term holiday and some delays during this week are likely.
