Manchester Airport offers more destinations than Heathrow and Gatwick
03.06.07
Manchester Airport will offer more destinations than any other airport in the UK after new routes to two dozen resorts and cities take off this summer. It will offer flights to 225 destinations - with more direct routes than Heathrow and Gatwick (Heathrow offers 180 destinations, while Gatwick has about 200, although the two London airports handle more flights and passengers than Manchester).
Manchester will also offer more destinations than some of the biggest airports in the US, including New York, Chicago and Dallas. It is still slightly behind the three n biggest `hubs' in the global aviation network - Atlanta, Frankfurt and Amsterdam - which each offer more than
250 destinations, but Manchester flies to more overseas destinations than any of these.
New routes from Manchester this summer include Jeddah, Lisbon, Rotterdam, Bergerac, Brest, Limoges, Naples, Rennes, Barcelona, Berlin, Paris, Prague, Toulouse, Rotterdam, Basel and Venice. The airport also offers the only British charter route to Hainan in China and a direct service to Johannesburg will launch in November.
Manchester Airport's Aidan Mooney said: 'We're continuing to expand the destinations on offer and are giving passengers more choice than ever.'
