New Manchester Airport lounge opened
02.07.10
Manchester Airport has opened its new Escape lounge at Terminal One, with it expected to welcome more than 100,000 passengers each year. The new £1.7m facility is divided into separate areas for relaxation and business with amenities including a choice of food and refreshments, plus self-contained meeting or private function rooms.
Travellers pay a flat fee to use the facilities, which include computer games consoles, Scalextric sets, a restaurant, free wi-fi and a quiet room. Paid spa treatments are also available. The airport already has an Escape lounge in terminal two and could add a third in the near future.
Manchester airport commercial director Andrew Harrison said that the lounge was designed to stand out but also have a 'welcoming and comfortable atmosphere'. He said: 'Our aim was to create a memorable experience for both our business and leisure passengers with great ambience, service and food made to order, and we have incorporated some quirky touches such as the Scalextric track and Wii that will appeal to all ages.'
