New buses for Manchester Airport route

Bus operator Arriva is investing £1.5m in 11 new buses to service its Number 19 route between Altrincham, Sale, Wythenshawe and Manchester Airport. The service will continue to run every 15 minutes Monday to Saturdays and half-hourly on Sundays.
John Rimmer, operations director for Arriva North West, said: ‘This is a significant investment. The new buses will make a big impact, improving the condition and quality of our service. We hope even more people will use us as a result.’
Bob Longworth, Ground Transport Manager for Manchester Airport, welcomed the investment in new buses. He said: ‘We’ve seen considerable investment in public transport by both ourselves and the operators who serve our airport since we opened our transport interchange. We hope to bring together all rail, bus, coach and, one day, Metrolink tram services into the heart of the airport.’
