Anger over 25 hour delay at Manchester Airport
02.03.09
Hundred of holidaymakers jetting off from Manchester Airport have hit out after their flight was delayed for 25 hours, the Manchester Evening News reports. The 250 passengers were heading for the Indian resort of Goa but were put up overnight at the Radisson SAS Airport Hotel after their plane was hit by a 'technical fault'.
The passengers told the MEN that they were not kept properly informed on what was happening by holiday company Thomson, and also complained that a £10 voucher they were given by Thomson could not be used in the hotel. Their meals were also served in a conference room, instead of the hotel's restaurant, with one toaster for 200 people.
A Thomson spokesman apologised for the delay. She told the newspaper that the plane had been due to go to the Maldives before coming to Manchester, but a technical fault had forced operators to find a replacement. The plane finally left Manchester at 20:30 on Sunday after the 25-hour delay.
It is interesting, but not surprising, that the airport hotel had space for over 200 passengers at such short notice.
