Plans to cut Luton Airport plane noise
30.05.11
A new scheme could cut aircraft noise that disturbs hundreds of residents living under Luton Airport flight paths. The ‘Brookmans Park Turn Project’ will ask pilots to hold to the centreline of the Dover / Clacton departure flight path to alleviate the impact of plane noise on Harpenden residents by re-routing the increasing volume of air traffic currently passing over the town.
When implemented, it is estimated that it will take hundreds of Harpenden homes out of the noise zone. Luton Airport is currently carrying out the trial, with an outcome expected to be published later this year.
