easyJet API fares option taken up by Thomas Cook

Thomas Cook is the biggest European travel company so far to announce that it will take advantage of a recent decision to open the easyJet API (application programming interface) that allows travel agents to search and book with the budget airline.
The German-based travel company has become the latest intermediary to announce a partnership with easyJet to take an official API feed of live prices from the low-cost carrier for third parties.
The deal, following an agreement signed with Partners Software, is expected to running within weeks, will give other clients such as STA Travel and Ebookers access to the easyJet data stream through its Low.Fare booking system.
The move will end the existing practice of screen scraping the easyJet system to provide fares for clients – a practice the airline has stated it is keen to eradicate through the opening up of its consumer API. A spokesman for Partners said: ‘This new direct connection will create a more efficient and secure service for our customers.’
