Trading Standards unhappy with Ryanair / easyJet speedy boarding
28.05.08
Europe's two largest budget airlines, easyJet and Ryanair, have been the subject of complaints from passengers over their 'speedy boarding' services, jaunted.com report. Neither of the airlines have allocated seating, and both have programs where passengers can pay extra to be one of the first to board a flight, and therefore have their choice of the seats.
However, the Trading Standards Office has been looking into complaints about priority boarding, particularly from passengers who have paid the extra fee but end up on a bus out to the plane with those who have not, weaning that they and do not get any boarding advantage at all.
The Trading Standards people say this is all verging on fraud, and have put the airlines on notice that they're being watched, the website reports.
