Drunken air rage job jailed

A drunken air passenger whose ‘loutish’ behaviour terrified holidaymakers on a flight to Luton Airport was jailed at Liverpool crown court yesterday. Robert Montgomery verbally abused staff and smoked in the plane’s toilets after downing drinks on the flight from Bulgaria. A flight attendant told police the 21-year-old even threatened to open one of the aircraft’s doors during the incident on a Wizz Air plane on October 18 last year.
Mr Montgomery, of Kilburn Avenue, Eastham, was arrested by Bedfordshire police after the plane touched down at Luton airport. Yesterday, he was jailed for 20 weeks after admitting being drunk on a plane. Judge John Phipps said: ‘You got drunk and behaved in a thoroughly disgraceful and loutish way.’
